Egg-static for Easter

Hey Ya'll,

(That title took longer than I'd like to say to come up with - I'm fresh out, guys)

I'm a little kid at heart.  The kind of person who skips down the street for absolutely no reason, than the freeing feeling.  The kind of person who bakes chocolate chip cookies, but ends up making half the batch, because I've gotten too excited and licked the spoons, mixer blades (sorry mom!), and bowl. The kind of girl who can't keep a straight face, and mutters under her breath "...that's what she said".  (Yes, I'm aware the joke is old, overdone, and terrible.) ( I also don't care!)

I also enjoy celebrating holidays, as most kids do.  It brings me back to my carefree childhood times.

So, yes, I carved pumpkins for Halloween.

And, yes, I did do Christmas big.

So, what holiday is next?

Yes, I'm aware that Easter isn't "technically" about cute little bunnies, colorful eggs, hunting for said eggs, and peeps.  However, I am not a super religious person, so, to me, this is how I like to celebrate. To each their own, right?

To make a long story longer, Martha - I love you.  I'm going to dye eggs this year if it kills me.

Any suggestions to what I can do with these chicken droppings after Easter? I can only eat so many hard-boiled eggs. Serious guys, too many eggs can kill (It's probably on Wikipedia).

Love, AJ

DIY Work Out Tank

Now listen up, I like to work out as much as the next person (which is rarely).

I'm just kidding. Honestly, I do love working out and getting that endorphin high.  I'm not crazy overboard about it, but it really makes me feel like a responsible functioning member of society when I do. Not to mention the guilt-free junk food eating habits

However, as I've mentioned before, I tend to lack motivation with many things in my life.  Unsurprisingly, that includes working out. Part of the lackadaisical mindset comes from getting dressed to go do the deed. I want to wear something comfy, where my thighs don't jiggle or rub together, and where I feel like my middle third of my body is being contained. T-shirts work wonderfully for the latter part of this conundrum, and yoga capri's work for the former.

What I've also come to realize, working out in Texas, is that I can't stand to have sleeves.  I sweat (which is on my top 5 list of Things I Love Least).  I sweat a lot.  Especially when late Spring - early Fall is 90+ degrees.  I can't waste all my tanks on working out!

Luckily, there's no need to worry.  Catherine, over at Rabbit Food for My Bunny Teeth has solved my problems.  A kick butt, awesome workout tank made from old t-shirts.  Luckily I only have 70,000 old shirts I would love to be able to re-use! And, more importantly, it's easy. Seriously, I'm in the middle of doing this right now (nothing like some good old-fashioned ADD), it's embarrassingly easy.

A loose-fitting, no-sleeved, work out outfit may just get me to the gym. (I mean, way more than I already do...right?)

Also - check out Catherine's blog too - it's pretty freaking awesome!!

String Arts

I love being crafty.  It soothes me, makes me feel like Martha Stewart, and 8 times out of 10, I'll get something really cool out of the deal.  (The other 2 out of 10 usually end up in disaster - with fingers glued together and paint everywhere).

However, I tend to lack motivation, time, and the financial aspect of being able to do projects.  That being said, over the holiday vacation, I was able to spend some time with my favorite ladies for a weekend getaway. (GIRLS WEEKEND, WOO!) While we caught up on each others lives, had spontaneous dance parties, we also were able to do something even more fun - CRAFTS!

These girls get together a few times a year and do a craft at their gatherings.  I've always been incredibly jealous, being so far away in Texas - so I was pretty pumped to do crafts with my girls during our weekend.

Long story short, this inspired me to want to start something similar.  It's motivating, and I can combine my social life with DIY projects.  I may have to start up something similar and get together with my friends and have a few hours on a weekend devoted to crafts.  Who's in!?

I found a project that I am already in love with on Green Wedding Shoes.  String Art.  It may have to involve the boy - seeing as it involves hammering and nailing, and I tend to bend nails when I hammer into them.  (Maybe that should be my New Years resolution??) But the finished project can be whatever you like, a heart, stars, butterfly, shoes, WHATEVER! You can hang it anywhere and frankly it's a pretty sweet project because you did it.  And let's face it, anything you do, is better than anything else you can purchase, because you understand the time and effort put into the project.

Pom Pom Love

I've explained before about my enormous love for all things pom poms.  I just wanted to reiterate...I love them. I do. I love them and can't get enough of them! They are by far the easiest DIY decoration you can do to spice up any area, room, space, hallway, I don't care!

I don't even know where to begin with pom poms and events.  To me, it just makes an event look tasteful.  Tasteful and put together. Pom poms look difficult and that the utmost care and diligence was given when creating the works of art - but let's be honest, they take two seconds and add so much!

My latest obsession with pom poms is to put it together with different artistic mediums. Use twine and some Styrofoam and create a giant ball to mix it up and give the creation some different textures, sizes, and color. Pair it with some paper lanterns (because let's face it, between paper lanterns and pom poms - who can really choose which is best?) This helps create more of a 3d feel to any party, any room, and just makes things come to life! (Well, not literally).

Don't you agree??

Do-It-Yourself Stationary!

Hello all!

This is a fun find I found on another one of my favorite wedding web sites. Ruffled is a great web site for all things vintage.  As many of you know, I am a girl that was brought up in the wrong decade.  I love all things '5os, '60s, and '70s.  Clothing, Lifestyle, Music, and of course, dancing.  I'm probably the only 24-year-old that I know with 30% oldies music on my ipod.  I can't help myself sway to the beat whenever an oldies song comes on the radio (yes, I will find the only radio station that plays it in any city I find myself in!).

If you didn't know any of that, well, you've learned something new.

Anyways, Ruffled had their readers send in ideas for projects and other things related to weddings, vintage weddings, and vintage-ness. My favorite idea was the DIY Marbled Table Numbers.  I figured you can also apply this to stationary, or any other things you want marbled in colors.  Of course, with me, the more color the better, which is probably why I'm obsessed with the way these table numbers turned out! Seems like a relatively easy process, albeit, probably for something with a final number of products in mind!

Anyways, help yourself! Feel free to love away!

Do-It-Yourself

Hello! Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend!

My girlfriends and I are hosting our first Wine Club here in Dallas this weekend.  It's a fun little club that we had back in Minnesota, and wanted to carry on the event down here.  We'll have girls, wine, snacks, and of course, the good old-fashioned dance party!

In preparation for this event this weekend, we need to prepare a menu, decorations, and the necessities of have enough wine glasses! In preparation my roommate remembered that we probably needed wine charms, especially if we were all drinking the same wine and have a lot of girls in close quarters with the same shaped glasses!

Right now, she's making her own wine charms.  We've been shopping for charms before and couldn't find anything that wasn't super generic, boring, or had the right personality for people our age.  She came up with the idea to make our own wine charm, so we can throw our personalities into it, and make the charms as we see fit! She's brilliant that girl is.

I've attached some pictures of the charms step by step.  They are super cute, and so easy to make! It's just some simple beading, and creating a catch to connect the wire around the stem of the glass! Easy, personable, and DIY - what on earth is better than that?

Mad props to Erin!
